The Academy of Geo-Professionals (AGP) held the 3rd Annual Ethics Session on Sunday, February 23, 2014, right before the start of the annual G-I Congress.  The session was held in downtown Atlanta with about 35 participants, some of them were Diplomates and some were not.

Satya Varadhi, PhD, PE, D.GE, MASCE gave a quick 25 minute presentation on ASCE’s Code of Ethics.  Next, the moderators introduced their case studies. The attendees were then split up into four groups to discuss the ethical implications.  Leading the discussion of the four groups along with Dr. Varadhi, were Robert Holtz, PhD, PE, D.GE, Dist.M.ASCE, Hank Landau, PhD, PE, D.GE, F.ASCE and Jorge Meneses, PhD, PE, D.GE, F.ASCE.

The groups of about eight people each debated, deliberated and discussed the particular case they were assigned.  Each group assigned a spokesperson, who then presented their findings with the entire group.  This was followed up by a Q and A session.  Attendees earned 2 PDHs, good towards their renewal with AGP.  Incidentally, the session was not videotaped because it would be hard to capture the group's discussion.  Read more about past Ethics Sessions or even watch a video of the first session.
