W. Allen Marr, Jr., PhD, PE, D.GE, NAE, F.ASCE and current AGP Board Trustee member was recently inducted into The Moles. The Moles is the most prestigious heavy construction organization in the world. The members, which are a limited number, have been involved in the construction of tunnel, subway, sewer, foundation, marine, subaqueous, or other heavy construction projects for almost 80 years. The induction ceremony was on May 6th, at the annual dinner and meeting that took place in New York City.

Marr has 40 years’ experience in civil engineering and construction on heavy civil projects, including tunnels, bridges, dams, levees, deep excavations, mines and transportation facilities.  His specialties include: geotechnical engineering, soft ground engineering, soil and rock improvement, soil-structure interaction, soil and rock testing, real-time monitoring, field instrumentation, risk assessment and risk mitigation, forensic analysis of underground aspects of failures.

Marr received his Bachelor of Science from UC Davis and his master’s and PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Marr is Founder, Owner, CEO and President of Geocomp Corporation, a company he’s been involved with for the last 33 years.  Geocomp provides services and products to help clients identify and manage risk associated with the design, construction and operation of infrastructure.
