Fernando Pons

Fernando was born in Barcelona, Spain to a family of Catalan, French and Spanish roots.  Fernando’s father, a textile engineer, who worked for a Swiss company, was transferred overseas, and moved his family to the American continent when Fernando was 2 ½ year old.  Fernando attended primary school in San Jose, Costa Rica, and completed the 8^th grade in Miami, Florida.  His family moved to Medellin, Colombia in 1980 where he attended an American high school.  After graduation, and one semester studying civil engineering in Medellin, he enrolled as a freshman at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami.  He completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at FIU in 1989, and continued his graduate studies at Georgia Tech.  Upon graduation at Georgia Tech with a master’s degree in civil engineering, he joined Law Engineering (LAW), moving first to its Tulsa, OK office, and later transferring to the Washington/Baltimore Metro area.  While at LAW, he enrolled in a master’s in business administration program, part-time.  He later joined ATC Associates in 2002, and Haley & Aldrich in 2004.  In 2010 he founded Pons & Associates, LLC.  

He has been married to his wonderful wife Virginia of 20 years, and is the proud dad of a 19-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter.  His family lives in Reston, Virginia.
