With a distinguished career in the engineering industry, Dr. Hampton takes great pride in his accomplishments, his contributions to the profession, and his reputation for outstanding leadership. His professional career encompasses a civil engineering professorship at Howard University, professional engineering registration in 18 states, and the District of Columbia, and the successful formation and continued growth of DHA, an award winning, top ENR 500 design and 100 program and construction management firm.

Dr. Hampton has been recognized throughout the engineering industry for his notable accomplishments. The American Society of Civil Engineers honored Dr. Hampton by bestowing upon him an Honorary Membership, plus three national awards. He is a former Councilor of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; was selected a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus and Old Master by Purdue University, received the Civil Engineering Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumnus Award and the College of Engineering’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from the University of Illinois, and is a recipient of the Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition Award and the James Laurie Prize, both given by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Dr. Hampton has served in a leadership capacity on a number of professional organizations, including National Capital Section President of the ASCE, District Director of the ASCE Board of Directors, chair of the Civil Engineering Research Foundation’s Corporate Advisory Board and Professional Activities Committees. He continues to be active on a number of industry-related boards, including the American Public Transit Association Business Members Board of Governors; the Building Museum Board of Directors; and the CEC Memorial Board.

Dr. Hampton is a Chapter Honor Member of Chi Epsilon, the national civil engineering honor society, and an Eminent Engineer member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. He has authored over 40 papers and has received two honorary doctorate degrees for services to the engineering profession.

Dr. Hampton earned his Ph.D. and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois.
